A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Writing and music are two of my greatest passions, though it wasn’t until college that I fully embraced either. Despite growing up with writer parents and being an avid writer as a child, my teenage years led me to explore photography, film, and mixed media as I sought my own creative path.

After traveling and living abroad, I began my studies at The New School in New York City. My freshman year was challenging; I felt overwhelmed and doubted my place there. However, I eventually enrolled in writing classes and rekindled my love for storytelling. At the same time, my interest in music history took off. Courses like Punk and Noise and Old Weird America deepened my fascination with musical subcultures and their impact on movements, particularly punk. Music has become a vital source of inspiration for my writing, influencing my work with its stories of rebellion and subculture. Alongside this, I draw inspiration from past literature, macabre themes, and young adult fiction. With a foundation in creative writing and music history, I overcame my initial struggles and thrived in college.

During my undergraduate years, I published six short stories, followed by four more after graduation. In Portland, Maine, I moderated a writing group at the public library for two years and hosted two readings featuring group members and other writers. While in Eugene, Oregon, I offered editing services to amateur writers and continued working on my own projects.

After living abroad, studying in Manhattan, and experiencing life on both coasts, my family and I have settled in East Lansing, Michigan. Outside of writing, I work as a floral designer, crafting contemporary arrangements with color and shape. In my free time I like to do home DIY projects, go hiking with my family or have a beer at a local brewery. I also spend a lot of time with my sons, Jack and Remy, who, though not yet interested in writing, might one day become talented musicians judging by their enthusiastic drumming on pots and pans.

I am currently seeking representation for my debut novel, The Undesirables, which delves into the Hollywood punk scene of the late 70s.
